Hi everyone! My name is Akanksha Marepalli, I am 19 years old and I am studying the PR & Advertising pathway. I am from Hyderabad, India, but have been raised in Reading, England since I was 4.
A bit about me!
I love to explore new places and try out new food – my favourite cuisines are Japanese food and Korean BBQ. I also love bubble tea!! I recently went to a bubble tea shop near Covent Garden called Xing Fu Tang, where they make their teas with fresh, hot boba (it is ten times better than regular boba). However, I stay forever loyal to Ding Tea, a popular bubble tea shop in Reading Town Centre!

I also crochet! I learnt how to crochet about a year ago – my first project was a friendship bracelet, but since then, I have made bigger things. I sometimes crochet for my friends as small gifts. Here are some of the projects that I’ve made:

I also really enjoy watching psychological thriller dramas like Black Swan, Whiplash, Platform, and Escape Room, and I love to analyse these shows from a literature mixed media perspective in my free time – analysing why characters are the way they are, understanding key themes and symbolisms throughout the film and how they reflect into reality. I’m currently watching The Walking Dead and Manifest. My music taste, in my opinion, is quite varied. I listen to all sorts of music ranging from old school hip-hop/rap to dancehall, but my current most listened to is UK rap and chill R&B – however, I have been exploring London R&B recently and my current favourite artists are emil and Ragz Originale (my Spotify is linked at the bottom!).
I want to work in digital marketing, specifically in promotion design, which includes things like making posters and billboard designs. I have consequently gained some work experience in this industry. I accepted the position of Head of Marketing for my secondary school during Sixth Form and I was able to produce a variety of printed and digital products, from the Ofsted Report to quarterly newsletters. In my free time, I also like to edit pictures and videos to create short vlogs, which helps me keep up with my editing skills. I’m now working on an Instagram reel for my recent holiday to India with my family! Here are some photos from my trip:
