My name is Abdikarim Hussein Abdi and I am 26 years old. I am often called AK by family and friends. I was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and moved to London, United Kingdom at the age of 7 years old. I am originally from Somalia and come from a family of 7 children whereby I am the 3rd eldest. I am a Muslim by faith. I enjoy a variety of different activities like cycling, exercising, travelling, watching films and television shows, reading and writing amongst other things. I am passionate about digital media and communications particularly the internet use, digital culture, theories of media concepts, technology and social media. I enjoy learning new things about subjects I find interesting like personal development and self growth. I speak English, Somali and Dutch, and basic French and Arabic. I have a special connection to my motherland Somalia due to the time I spent there while I was a teenager and it uniquely shaped my experiences in terms of thinking about my future ambitions. I have been to many countries and have embraced different cultures, languages and traditions and hope to be able to continue exploring new places. I am currently in my second year of a BA Digital Media and Communications course at the University of Westminster. This introduction post is part of my assignment for the Theories of Media and Communication module, and will be followed up by other blog posts on different topics over the coming weeks. I look forward to enjoying reading various material and doing research in order to produce my work. I enjoy socialising, trying new things, spending time with my family and also quiet environments at times. I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and learning a few things about me. Stay tuned for more blog posts to be posted soon!
Thanks,
AK
